I read about the Thaumatrope, I remeber working on them in seminar, They are known as a turning marvel ,or a wonder turner. The reason is because you make one circle with two different pictures like the top picture as so, then attach string (or elastic band) then twirl it, it will give the effect of the two pictures together. Like the example above, the illusion will be the dog chasing the birds. The negative about this, is that there are only two frames, that can give motion or not, like a bird in a cage, or a dog chasing birds. Then merges the two images, giving the illusion of one, so you can't actually create motion with this form of animating.

Then in 1832, they invented the Phenakistoscope, which revolutionized the animating world.

We watched 2 versions of the Shakespearean play known as “Romeo and Juliet". We watched two different movies, one is the original version, done in 1968 by Franco Zeffirelli this version is done back then like if it were the original, then the second version which was made in 1996 by Baz Luhrmann this theme, still took place in Verona, but the concept was modern day, (meaning this Romeo and Juliet takes place in everyday theme), Both have their own differences and similarities, good and bad, but if there was a choosing, the Old Shakespearean film, by Zeffirelli will be the top choice for viewing.

This reason is because the modern Romeo and Juliet, is very unrealistic, this reason is because even though it is modern day it still uses Elizabethan Language (Shakespearean language) Also the modern day by Luhrmann has quite bad acting, the actress that played Juliet could have done much better, this movie also used different ideas altering the original, like Lady Capulet was kissing tybalt, which is definitely not in the original, this is why most of the modern day is confusing since it never really happened, also they had no change in the original script, like in the modern day they used guns instead of swords, but still they said " Draw your swords" I completely understand why this movie got bad reviews, because they never even tried changeling the scripts to modern day English(English US).

The old "Romeo and Juliet" By Zeffirelli is the better choice because it takes place back then in the actual time Romeo and Juliet is supposed to take place. Also the acting was much better in the older video other than Baz's, It was more original and since the modern day failed to translate in modern day US English, the older one felt more in place because of the acting and their slang was more in style back then.

Both videos had to do with Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” My opinion was that Franco Zeffirelli (The old Romeo and Juliet) was the best out of the 2. I found that Baz Luhrmann’s Modern version of Romeo and Juliet unrealistic, because in modern days (Present days) People do not speak in Elizabethan English, and the editing of the script, changing the characters and understanding of the movie, was confusing and didn’t make sense. This is my opinion.

We had a assignment where we had to come up with an idea with the theme of "Dream", where we must take pictures that we took, or we used from the internet, then use them on photoshop to create a abnormal picture with the power of technology and ideas. For my idea i used the idea of people jumping off the building, with a background of text of random words that have to do with the concept of my idea, with blood splatters. yes, its true mine is somewhat graphic, and strange than the others, but I am sticking to this idea. My idea however, is not completely abnormal, considering that people jumping of a building wouldn't be impossible, but its still surreal because of the colors and density I used for the image and also, I am using many people than just one or two. The reason for the colors is because I wanted to make it somewhat scary, bone chilling.

The way how i did this is by first thinking of an idea, and then drawing the thumbnail. Next I needed pictures, a lot of them. So what I did was get images from the internet, and pictures I took myself. I needed many pictures because of my idea, the background I needed to do myself, (of text) but then I got the " Blood Splatters" off the internet and used the place tool to add them on the background. For the middle-ground, 9 the building) I used a image from the internet and simply placed it over the background, and finally for the foreground ( the people) I used images I taken, and images from the internet, and placed them over the middle-ground, but first I shrunk them down to the correct size and de-saturated  it to make it colorless ( I removed the color) and then placed it. For creating the shadows of the people on the building, I duplicated the people moved them down and played with colors with the paint tool, by taking the color of the building then slightly making it darker to look like a shadow.

Left- Before
Bottom- After

The before image is the one I took with my pinhole camera, and the after picture is the one that was inverted/ edited on photoshop. Was exposed for about 45 seconds, and the chemicals of developer was placed for approximately 13 seconds ( meant to stay in for about 60 seconds) the stop for a bout 30 seconds, the correct time, and for the fix about 14 seconds. And finally was placed in the water for 10 minutes and dried.

The first pinhole that was used in 1839, by Sir John Herschel. A pinhole camera is a lensless box that has a black interior and can keep out all darkness, Also you will need a small pin size hole, to let light pass through, and on the opposite end inside of the camera there should be photographic paper. There are a variety of different objects you can use to make a pinhole camera, like say a box, or a can, even a skull! Depending on the quality of the photographic paper, you should expose the light on it for a certain amount of time, if you keep the photographic paper exposed too long the image will come out black. Keep it too short, there will hardly be a image or will be completely white. Depending on how you want your image to be, use different strategies to do it, like ghost like images or ten different images all in one picture.

Center Of Attention

"The Tree" Taken near Gus Ryder
Element "Centre of Attention" and "Point of View"

This picture is very simple but can be worth many words, I took the picture near Gus Ryder, It shows the central point of view, meaning what is the main point of view in the picture. I made it purposely so the tree is the main point of view

Also it is known as "Centre of Attention" where one thing will end up sticking out, out of the other areas. Also i took the picture of the tree in the middle of the picture, to give it more feel.

Simplicity

This picture i really like right here it shows the stop sign at a completely different angle, so it will only show the top part of it and the sky. This picture has a lot of negative space from the sky because of the angle i did the picture at. But besides the fact of positive and negative space, i find the picture well balanced

For this picture i used the same strategy i did with the previous one. I used my fingers so it will only show the stop sign. what is different from this one to the one just showing the tree covered by my fingers, is that i made the fingers darker so it can just look like it was being covered by something.

I like this picture, by using my fingers i can show the main point of view of this pic. By covering the rest of the image only showing off the tree it gives simplicity. I tampered with the picture to make the tree brighter so it sticks out more than the rest.

This computer is having serious problems, so i'm sorry miss. Silverman, the link is there only its not showing and the picture of the logo itself won't work properly. But this is my logo and heres the link that i'm supposed to link to http://www.allgraphicdesign.com/rlinks.html
kiedriek.stumbleupon.com/tag/graphic-design/

My logo design is called "Musical Parrot Designs" my design company works with commercial advertisements and does the musics and finding informations about or products, we also work with studios and designing new ideas for different companies, and thinking up new ways to improve their products and what we think about how they should improve or change their thoughts in our own opinion. Meaning that we help to improve peoples products and they live up to our standards, we advertise it in commercials, with our own ideas.

The reason why i chose a parrot, to represent my company, is because parrots are loud fast moving critters that aim what there goal is, from the smallest to the biggest things in life. Also colorful pictures of the parrot is good advertisement because the bright colors catch your eye and makes it likable. Its true that the parrot is loud and also never listens at times but these birds live long and give off good vibes by their colors, this is why a parrot represents my company, because we are hard working, reach our goals and work hard.

This logo shows a picture of a parrots head and musical notes flying over it, this is the pictorial design. I chose this one over the color, because this one i find attracts more than the color and the grey scale. This is because the the viewers look at the parrot first or the music note and work their way around making the picture moving, Colors and grey scale i find very confusing, since the different colors are confusing and the parrot itself cannot be seen.

And near the top is the typographic part which is just the words by itself. As you can see it says "Musical Parrot Designs" I made it on purpose being simplistic. The one thing that make sit unique is the musical note that represents the "M" in the word, Thus saying Musical. The colored is the best since you can see depth of colors from light to dark.

This is a photo that best represents perspective, i took this photo of the big water blimp outside near Gus Ryder and took it so it makes it look larger and towering over, makes it look larger and with the slant making it look tilted, i find it to be well balanced and space is there with the sky completely covering on side

One of the most adventurous books written, the story of a young man, is set on a perilous
journey to middle earth and to destroy the ring of power. Lord of the Rings, A three set series written by J.
R. R. Tolkien, a brilliant English Writer, Poet, and a philologist. Through forestry’s and
harsh roads, Frodo Baggins a young hobbit climbs his way through different unknown
lands with his closest friend Sam (who is also a hobbit) who sticks by him through the whole adventure. Frodo must bring the ring of power to its end, which controls darkness, imbued with fire and darkness it cannot be broken by any manmade tool but only a the to peek in a evil place known as Mordor. With Frodo keeping the ring hidden many try to look for it, good and bad, wars start and end victorious or not Frodo and Sam will carry on not knowing what will happen next. The ending is still unknown considering you must read all 3 books to the full series.

This book is highly recommended to the ones who loves adventurous based books, and about true friendship and knowing that you must never give up considering the situation. The use of words is very well used, very detailed and well described; it is easy to imagine the world that J.R.R. Tolkien invented, his creatures and time based fiction makes it a perfect story to read in your spare time. There are some downsides to this book; sometimes the reader will lose understanding of the story since most of this is in first person of Frodo Baggins but soon changes that we see all of the characters perspectives, confusing the reader, but overall is a easy book, and well detailed, also at the end of every book of the 3 series you are given maps that J.K.K. Tolkien created himself to understand more.

Frodo the character himself is very shy, and unconfident. This was a well suited character for this particular story, showing how he must build up courage and how he must give strength with his fellow friends who help him on the journey, with the turn arounds and unexpected problems to come up, Frodo must fight this battle with his friendship hanging in the balance. Will he make it out alive?

Camera angles effect pictures in many ways. When you take a picture in a normal way it doesn't give much interest than when you spice it up in a different angle. There are many different angles you can take with a camera, examples are low-shot angles, and high shot angles. This picture on the right is an example of high shot

The Black Death
The Black Death happened in the 1330’s and 1340’s. It began in central Asia, then moved westward to the Black Sea region, and then entered in the Mediterranean Sea. Where the coasts and ports which lay exposed to the infection. In passing the path of the panclemic Dols cities both Muslim and Christian sources, including the history of the fourteenth century Arabic writer Ibn- Al Wardi.

The Black Death almost certainly originated in the Asiatic steppe, where a permanent source of plague infection still exists amoung the wild rodents of the region. The whole of the central Asiatic plateau has been called,” One huge endemic area”.
The pandemic spread to the south and west. The Black Death traveled down to China and India, then moved westward toward Persia, and finally to the Crimea and the Mediterranean world.

Both Latin and Arabic Sources emphasize the fact that the pandemic was initially accompanied in the Far East by violent ecological changes like flooding, famines, and earthquakes. According to the Chinese it is clear that the second quarter of the fourteenth century witnessed an unusual large number of distracting environmental disturbances. These natural disasters may have destroyed rodent houses and food sources and forced rodents (such as rats) beyond their normally, very restricted habitat into contact with domestic rodents and humans settlements carrying the epidemic with them. (Dols, 41-42)

From this Bubonic plague about 20-40% of the population died. One reason why the plague spread rapidly was because of unhygienic conditions. Four major ways a disease spreads are Airborne, Waterborne, through vectors, and direct contact. Also there is Flea borne, where the disease spreads by fleas, such as the plagues spread when the black rats carried fleas to spread more quickly.

Victims who have the Black Death will bleed under the skin, leaving dark blotches. When the plague attacks the blood stream germs flow through the entire body. The death rate in the 14th century from the Black Death was virtually 100%. The plague in the Muslim world: In the fall of 1347, Italian merchants carried the plague into the Muslim world. For my chess piece i did the queen. This scene shows a chess piece riding down the background which represents a pipeline. I find this drawing very moving showing the chess piece facing downward. I did this cause it shows movement, first by looking at the chess piece than following your way down the "pipes" until you reach the bottom. What i should have fixed was adding more darker lines to give more texture and where the shading was.

I tryed to avoid halos around the edges and the chess piece, and also contrasting from light to dark. Shading was difficult for the background since i had to make up the bright parts and where it will be shaded, and trying to keep the background looking like pipes. It is true that i should have made someplaces darker, but from afar its easy to tell the difference and the chess piece doesn't blend with the pipes.

I also should have balanced the drawing out more, considering that the chess piece is at the side somewhat, so i should have balanced the drawing with darker and more lines on the oppisite side. but instead i made one side heavy, but otherwise than that, i'm satisfied. i also understand that i wrote this critic really late so i hope miss will still accept it^^

1st Line Model-“the Shade Effect” When I did this line art I made a repeated amount of lines moving downward becoming continuously smaller as they move downward, to give the effect of either distance or shading from black to grey to white. This means the size of line gives it less value, and from afar the thick to thin lines look like they are going from dark to light. The lines I did not keep perfectly straight, I made some slanted, this is to make the effect that the lines are falling down, this also works when I made all the lines horizontal, if I made the lines vertical the effect wouldn’t be the same. The other lines were kept straight so the piece wouldn’t look too busy. There was no rough needed for this piece, because I already had the idea in my head, the idea was risky but turned out fine, this piece someone is an illusion. I was inspired by grey scale; I figured out by using black lines, you could make the effect of gray, by size and distance.

2nd Line Model-“Waterfall” This particular line art didn’t take that much amount of time, but I was still careful with the placement of the lines. This piece was inspired by a waterfall. At first it wasn’t, but then the lines seemed jagged like a waterfall should be. It represents and shows it’s a waterfall, by the lines not only slanted to move downward, but the movement and rhythm of line shows the personality of a waterfall. First smooth the ridged from the small rocks in the way, straight down the crashes. The background I used more lines so it wouldn’t be plain in the background. I also used different size of line, to show the emphasizing power of force in every line moving downward, because when I think of a waterfall I think of power so I showed a lot of movement in this piece.

Goya Man without a "ism"

こんにちは!! XD My name is Blaire, and I'll be talking about a piece of art done by a man named Goya, man without an "ism". I am researching a certain piece done by him called, " The Third of May", This piece shows victims being shot by a firing squad. I chose this piece because the colours are very moving and show excellent expression. The point of view is obviously the man with the bright white shirt; raising his hand in the air makes him stick out even more. The other people around him have darker faces so it's hard to see their expressions, but you can tell that they are trying to hide. Goya purposely didn't show the fire squads expressions, since the main point is the victims.

The piece is well balanced, with brightness on one side and everything else is dark. People, when they first look at the piece, will see the man with the bright white shirt. The dark night sky is a great effect; also, the castle in the background is somewhat dull because it's giving the effect of being far away. The shading could have been brighter and darker in places, but keep in mind that Goya's style is much different from other artists. He sends messages to others through his art about war, democracy and things that bothered him or are currently happening right now.

The statement is about freedom, it shows people against their will, and thus getting shot by a gun squad. I will always enjoy Goya's work especially about how he shows many messages, colours that show how he is feeling, and the people in his art's thinking. I hoped you liked my report!~ さようなら。
